The Boundary system has a very useful pet sensitivity mode that allows motion to be ignored from pets under 35kg in your home.
Positioning motion sensors
The ideal location for a sensor is in the corner of a room. This allows maximum coverage to ensure nothing is missed.
The illustration below gives an idea of where to place the sensor:
- When mounted at 2.25m from the floor, your sensor detects movement in the same room up to 20m away
- Please leave at least a minimum 5cm gap between the top of the sensor and the ceiling so you can easily mount and unmount the sensor
- Consider what the motion sensor is facing when it comes to pets, sometimes pets higher than floor level can potentially trigger the sensor (eg. on furniture, using stairs, etc...) so try to avoid that where possible
- If several pets sleep together (eg. 2 or more pets in a bed) this may be perceived by motion sensors as a larger animal and trigger the sensors. If possible, avoid pointing sensors towards beds if several pets share them
The above are some general best practices, but if issues persist please contact our team for further support. For us to help you best, please provide:
- The names of the sensors that are being triggered
- A photograph of what the motion sensor can see (the sensor's point of view)
- Some information about your pet(s) - the size and weight mainly - but we're pet lovers so their name and favourite toy would be fun too
