Boundary can now be controlled using Google Home and added into your home routines! The setup process is very simple and will allow you to arm/disarm your Boundary alarm using the power of your voice.
What you will need
- A Boundary alarm on any paid subscription plan
- The Google Home app
- (optional) A Google Nest speaker
How to setup
- Download the Google Home app if you don't have it from either Google Play for Android or the Apple App store for Apple iOS devices.
- Setup your Google home account and login to the app
- Tap the plus (+) symbol at the top left or right of the app
- Tap the Set up device option
- Select the Works with Google option on the next screen
- Scroll down or search for Boundary and then tap it
- You will then be prompted to login to the Boundary app using your Boundary email address and password (if you are already logged in then it should just connect)
- Return to the Google Home front screen by tapping the house icon and you should now see Central Hub listed under the Linked to you Section
At this stage, Boundary is linked to Google home and you can customize it further if you wish by changing the name or assigning it to a home.
How to use
Current functions
Currently, it is only possible to carry out a full arm or disarm using the Google voice assistant but this can be worked into other routines if you wish
To fully arm the Boundary system
- Tap the microphone symbol in the Google Home app to startup the assistant. If you have set up voice match, you can also say "OK Google"
- To arm Boundary, say "Arm Boundary Alarm"
- The Google Assistant will then respond that Boundary is arming and you have 45 seconds to exit
To disarm the Boundary System
- Tap the microphone symbol in the Google Home app to startup the assistant. If you have set up voice match, you can also say "OK Google"
- To disarm Boundary, say "Disarm Boundary Alarm"
- The assistant will then ask for your alarm PIN which you will need to provide
- If the PIN is recognised, Google Assistant will then respond that Boundary is disarming
NB: Although arming is currently only available for a full set, disarming will work with any set mode including part arm or night set
