The general settings menu can be found by logging into the mobile app on your phone and tapping Settings > General
This section then displays the following features:
Property Name
As it suggests, this is simply the friendly name given to your alarm installation. It can be anything you like but can be viewed by all users of the app.
Pet Sensitivity Mode
The pet sensitivity mode puts all the motion sensors into a mode that will disregard any pets weighing less than 35kg. This is useful if you want to set the alarm but still allow your pets to roam the house.
If you have pets over 35kg but still want to set the alarm then we suggest creating a "safe zone" for them where the alarm has been set but specific rooms or zones disabled. This is known as partial arming and can be controlled directly from the app or the hub.
Biometric Authentication
If your phone supports biometric authentication (most do) and you have it enabled, you can set the mobile app to require a biometric login such as recognising your face or fingerprint. With this disabled, you will need to log in with your email address and password or user PIN.
Biometric login is a much safer option as it will require you to be either looking at your phone or using your own finger to unlock it. Both of which are near impossible to replicate!
Require Login on Launch
This setting enhances the security of the app in that it will prompt you for a login every time the app is opened. The option is optional for DIY home users but is mandatory for monitored customers with Police response.
Geofence Notifications
This setting enables or disables the notifications you or other users will receive if you leave home and forget to set the alarm. You can read more about this feature in this article.
Enable Screen Lock
Again a mandatory setting for monitored customers, this will prompt you to enter your login if the screen on your phone is locked for extra security.
Enable Analytics
This is an optional but recommended setting and will supply our development teams with usage patterns and alerts of things go wrong. We never transmit any identifiable behaviour or personal information though.
Changing General Settings
To make a change to any of the general settings:
- Login to the Boundary app on your phone
- Tap Settings > General
- Tap the Edit link at the top right of the screen
- Make your changes and then click Save again at the top right
- Your changes will then be saved.
