Read this first!
Before you create a new user, please read this article on user access levels before continuing!
Your Boundary alarm system can support multiple users. You will always have at least one user with full access to the system but you can also add extra users such as friends or family. This screen also handles the keyholder settings for your system.
Display Users
If you want to see who has access to your system:
- Login to the Boundary app on your phone
- Tap Settings > Users to bring up a list of existing users
- The users will then display all current users split into Admin, Standard and Basic Users with limited access to the system
- You will also see if they have been verified and are a keyholder
- Tap a users name and you will see all of the user details
This page will also display users who have been invited to your system but have not yet accepted the invitation. You can cancel or resend the invitation by tapping their name.
NB: You can only add, edit or remove users when your system is not armed
Create a New User - Pro plan (monitored system with Police Response)
The process for creating user accounts and managing keyholders is slightly different. We're working on these changes now ready for when we launch the monitored Pro plan.
Create a New User - Smart and Lite plans
To grant a new user access to your system, follow these steps:
- Tap the Add user link from the users screen
- Select the user type (Admin, Standard or Basic)
- If they are to be a Keyholder, make sure you tap the toggle to set this to yes (not available on Lite)
The next screen will vary depending on the type of user you are adding and if they are a keyholder
- All users will need to enter their first and last name
- Admin and Standard users will enter their email address as they have access to the mobile app
- Basic users will only need to add their name
Are they a basic user keyholder?
If the user you are creating is a basic user then we will need to add their telephone number. This user will need to verify their number.
Select a User Type, either:

- Admin User - Users who will have full and unrestricted access to the system. NB: They won't have access to the billing system or change the chosen subscription, payment details etc.
- Standard User - A user who can arm/disarm the system via the Hub and the Boundary mobile app
- Basic User - A user who can arm/disarm the system via the Hub only using either a key fob or 4-digit PIN code
- Admin & Standard Users:
- Enter the user's first name, surname and email address
- If they are a keyholder, enable the toggle to set this option (not available on Lite)
- Click the Send Invite button
- An email invitation will then be sent to the user giving them access to the mobile app so they can then create their account
- Basic User
- Enter the user's first name and surname
- If they are a keyholder, switch the keyholder toggle to on and enter the telephone number for them to verify (not available on Lite)
- Click on the Add User button
- Enter a 4-digit PIN code for them to arm/disarm the system with
- The user will then be created
Once you have created a user account, you can assign them a key fob. This article will walk you through that process.
Edit an Existing User
If you want to edit an existing user:
- Login into the Boundary app on your phone
- Tap Settings > Users
- Select the user you wish to edit
- Make the desired changes and click the Save Changes button
- Changes to the user are then saved
Delete an Existing User
To delete an existing user and remove their access from your system:
- Login to the Boundary app on your phone
- Tap Settings > Users
- Tap the user you wish to remove
- Tap the Delete User button
