The Boundary system supports users within a series of access levels that have been designed to meet certain standards when being able to control your Boundary alarm. These levels are defined as the following:
- L1 (Burglar!) - This user has no access to the system and is unable to have any interaction with the system Effectively this is an intruder level which may seem strange but the definition of access has to start somewhere!
- L2 (Standard User) - This level of user has limited access to the system. They are able to arm or disarm the system with a PIN code, key fob or through the mobile app but they are unable to make any changes to the system.
- L3 (Admin User) - Here a user will have admin rights to the system. Normally this is the owner of the property and they will be able to access almost all features within the alarm system. You can always add additional admin users if you wish.
- L4 (Boundary Engineers) - This is the highest level of access and is reserved solely for Boundary installation and engineering teams. L4 users can access all functions as well as carry out system restores, view activity logs and perform various alarm tests
L4 user access
A user with L4 access is strictly controlled by Boundary and will never login to our system without your full knowledge and permission!
You should take care when adding new users to your Boundary alarm that you only give them the permissions they need. In the vast majority of cases, L2 access is all that is required as the ability to arm/disarm the alarm safely will be more than enough. We don't recommend that all users within a household are added as L3 or admin users.
A note for monitored installations
Access is normally restricted to L2 due to the fact that every area of your system is professionally monitored and changes can only be carried out by Boundary engineers to ensure your installation meets the standards required for police response.
